Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with Cartograph — the full-service Amazon agency built for CPG brands.

About Cartograph
What is Cartograph and what does it do?+
Cartograph is a full-service Amazon agency that helps CPG brands grow profitably on Amazon and other eCommerce channels. We manage every aspect of a brand's Amazon business end-to-end — including strategy, operations, inventory and logistics, content, SEO, and advertising (PPC, DSP, Streaming TV, and more). We work with brands across Food & Beverage, Beauty, Health, Pet, Baby, and beyond, and currently manage $700M+ in annual client sales.
What types of brands does Cartograph work with?+
We work with CPG brands at all stages — from founders launching on Amazon for the first time to established brands with eight-figure Amazon businesses looking to accelerate growth or improve profitability. Our sweet spot is brands with differentiated products that are better for people and the planet, and who want a true long-term partner rather than just a vendor.
Is Cartograph only focused on Amazon?+
Amazon is our core competency, but we also support brands on Instacart and retail media channels. We understand how Amazon interacts with a brand’s broader digital and retail ecosystem, including DTC and brick-and-mortar, and we factor that into our strategy.
Where is Cartograph based?+
Cartograph was founded in Austin, Texas in 2017, and our team is distributed across the US. We work with brands nationwide and have deep experience navigating the nuances of CPG across virtually every major category on Amazon.
Services & Scope
What services does Cartograph offer?+
Our services span the full Amazon value chain: brand strategy, listing content and SEO, advertising (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, DSP, AMC, and Streaming TV), inventory management, 3PL and freight, Vendor Central and Seller Central management, and custom analytics and reporting. Most clients engage us across all of these — we’re built to be a single point of accountability for your entire Amazon business.
Does Cartograph manage Vendor Central or only Seller Central?+
Both. We have deep experience managing brands on Vendor Central, Seller Central, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Dropship programs. If you’re considering a channel transition or operating across multiple relationships, we can help you navigate that too.
Can Cartograph help us launch a brand on Amazon from scratch?+
Yes — we’ve launched 50+ brands from $0 to over $1M in sales on Amazon. We’ll handle everything from initial account setup and content creation to early advertising strategy and inventory planning, and we’ll set clear milestones during the onboarding process so you know exactly what to expect and when.
Does Cartograph offer support for channels other than Amazon?+
Amazon is our primary focus and deepest area of expertise, but depending on the brand we also support Instacart, Whole Foods Market on Amazon, and Chewy. These channels can play an important role in a brand’s broader eCommerce strategy, and we’re well-positioned to help where they’re relevant to your business. We’ll assess which channels make sense for your brand during the audit process.
Does Cartograph offer advertising-only services, or do you require full management?+
Our model is built around full-service management because we’ve found that fragmented ownership of advertising, content, and operations leads to suboptimal outcomes. That said, we’re happy to talk through your situation — reach out and we can discuss what makes sense for your brand.
Our brand has had issues with losing the Buy Box, counterfeit products, or listings being suppressed. Can you help?+
Yes, these are issues we encounter across our portfolio and have experience navigating. Buy Box losses, unauthorized third-party sellers, and listing suppressions can all have a significant impact on sales and brand integrity — and Amazon’s processes for resolving them aren’t always straightforward. While we prefer to get ahead of these issues through proactive account management rather than remediation, we know how to work through them when they arise and can help you build the right safeguards to reduce exposure going forward.
Pricing & Contracts
How much does Cartograph cost?+
Our engagements generally start at $5,000/month plus 6% of managed revenue, and scale from there based on the complexity and scope of your business. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all pricing — during our initial audit process we’ll put together a detailed proposal based on your specific needs before you ever sign anything.
What does the onboarding process look like before I sign a contract?+
Before you commit to anything, we conduct a thorough account audit and present a detailed breakdown of the actions we’d take, projected outcomes including expected sales growth, and any opportunities or risks we identify in your current setup. You’ll know exactly what you’re signing up for before you sign. This process is complimentary.
What does the first 30/60/90 days with Cartograph look like?+
While every brand is different, we hit the ground running almost immediately. During the pre-contract audit we’ll map out a specific action plan for your brand so you know exactly what we’ll tackle first and what outcomes to expect. Most clients see meaningful progress within the first few weeks.
Working with Cartograph
Why is Cartograph more expensive than other Amazon agencies?+
A few reasons. First, we’re deeply specialized in CPG — this isn’t a generalist digital agency that also does Amazon. Every person on your team eats, breathes, and sleeps Amazon and CPG. Second, we keep our client-to-team ratio intentionally low so your brand gets genuine, personalized attention — not a junior account manager juggling 30 brands. Third, our service is truly end-to-end: one team owns your strategy, operations, content, and advertising, which eliminates the coordination gaps that cost brands money. Our track record speaks for itself — we generate $100M+ in incremental growth for clients annually.
How many brands does each team manage?+
Our brand management teams cap out at four brands per manager. This is a deliberate choice — we’d rather do fewer things exceptionally well than spread our teams thin. It means your brand gets real attention, not a templated playbook.
How will I stay informed about what’s happening in my account?+
You’ll receive detailed performance updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday via Slack covering sales, ad performance, flagged issues, and active opportunities. You’ll also have regular Zoom calls with your brand management team. And 24/7, you’ll have direct access to the same proprietary dashboards your team uses internally — live P&L by SKU, repeat purchase and LTV data, sales by product, and search query performance — all connected directly to the Amazon API and updated daily. No waiting on a weekly report.
What reporting and dashboards does Cartograph provide?+
Every client gets complimentary access to four live dashboards: a Profit & Loss dashboard with SKU-level margin visibility (revenue, COGS, FBA fees, ad spend, and net profit), a Repeat Purchase dashboard tracking cohort LTV, CAC, and new-to-brand rates, a Sales by Product dashboard with full catalog performance and demand trends, and a Search Query Performance dashboard showing keyword-level full-funnel data. These are the same dashboards your Cartograph team uses — there’s no information asymmetry.
Does Cartograph work with brands that already have an internal Amazon team?+
Yes. Some of our clients have internal eCommerce teams and engage us as a strategic partner or to take on specific functions. We’re collaborative by nature and can work alongside your team rather than replace it.
Results & Getting Started
What results can I expect working with Cartograph?+
Results vary by brand, category, and starting point, so we don’t promise specific numbers before we understand your business. What we can tell you: we’ve launched 50+ brands past $1M in annual Amazon revenue, we manage $700M+ in annual client sales, our monthly P&Ls land within 5% of target across the full portfolio, and we generated $100M+ in incremental growth for clients in 2024. We’ll give you projected outcomes during the pre-contract audit based on your specific situation.
What categories does Cartograph specialize in?+
Our core categories are Food & Beverage, Beauty, Health & Wellness, Pet, and Baby. We’ve managed 300+ brands across these categories and have deep institutional knowledge of category-specific dynamics, retailer relationships, and compliance requirements on Amazon. We’re a 2-time finalist for the Amazon Ads Partner Awards.
How do I get started with Cartograph?+
The best first step is to fill out our contact form or email us at contact@gocartograph.com. We’ll set up an intro call to learn about your brand and goals, and if there’s a fit, we’ll move into the complimentary account audit process.
What information do I need to provide to get an audit?+
Typically we’ll need read access to your Seller Central or Vendor Central account, and some basic context about your brand, products, and goals. We handle the rest. The audit is complimentary and comes with no obligation.
Is Cartograph taking on new clients?+
We’re selective about who we work with — we partner with brands we genuinely believe we can help win on Amazon. If you think there’s a fit, reach out and let’s talk.
